Isn't it funny how fast those wonderful vacations become such distant memories in an instant?
*SNAP* you are right back to reality in a heartbeat!
Oh well! it's all good! I am happy to be home again,
and happy to be working again!
Our vacation honestly was a really fun and relaxing time...
we saw a ton of great things, wonderful museums, the ocean, friends, Fun shops, and had a Bunch of great food! Oh MY!
SO here are a few quick pictures before I race out the door to work.....My first day back in 2 weeks! (i'm such a slacker)
ahh! the open road!
through hills and valleys, and small mountains....
in fact some of the roads were so hilly and mountainous, that I kind of freaked out a little, so I brought my beads to keep me occupied, and my head DOWN, so I wouldn;t pass out!
(i have some control issues when it comes to not being behind the wheel) hee hee!
I did manage to make some nice new bracelets that were inspired from the trip, and the colors.....
I am calling them my "roadtrip" collection.
I am hoping to have pictures of them loaded up to the website later this afternoon! whoo-hoo!
I loved how green everything was down there,
My son especially had fun playing with those flying rats
pretending they were carrying him away....
in fact my people like to be silly ALLL of the time, which of course cracks me up.
here we are at the museum
it was really a lovely place, despite the goofy scenery
oh man, please help me. :)
one of these places had a bug section that was FILLED with live bugs that completely grossed me out, (thankfully not this large) :) but I will say it was fascinating.
they even had snacks for you to buy afterwards!
o.k, WHO would eat those?!!!
anyways, one of them had a fantastic butterfly house with lovely little butterflies flying all around.. more my speed.
a sweet little blue morpho came by to visit! it was really friendly!
we visited several kid friendly places...
one of them had a display that I absolutely thought was so cute!
I wish I could have a life sized peas and carrot play room in MY house! :)
now speaking of food, we ate a ton of it! from low-brow diner fare to upscale modern mexican.
all of it 100% yummy!
cool irish Pubs.... ;)
fresh biscuits and hush puppies, sweet tea, and micro brews,
ribs, black eyed peas and collard greens for that southern experience at a BBQ joint, YUM!
delicious fish tacos near the beach....
in charming small towns
where I saw an even yummier life guard!
man! I contemplated flinging myself in the ocean, just because! ha ha!
ok, back to food.
its all i think about. hee hee
I had grits for the first time! OHMIGOSH!
I have found nirvana. I LOVE grits! who knew!?
we ate these at a waffle house in the middle of nowhere
there is something so charming about it's retro-no frills atmosphere. I loved it. never been there before!
We also had some fantastic upscale food, like this one place that made an AMAZING margarita, all from scratch, using fresh squeezed limes! oh my word!
plus we had a few of our own, poolside at my husbands apartment down in raleigh, (when he travels he stays here)
when we werent eating or lounging, we were out shopping at some great little places!
Loved the shop NOFO, it was in an old piggly wiggly grocery store that they revamped! SO cool!
ornamentea for really cool beads!!
and scored some great shoes!
ignore the atrocious toes.
we also saw some great vintage places
and scored some loot
the kids enjoyed themselves
we got together with my friend Kristen from Mood swing studio and hung out with her sweet kids, My people thoroughly enjoyed it! love her to bits! xoxo
we bowled at this amazing retro old school bowling alley!
all in all we had a ball, but it is sure nice to be home.
home sweet home.
So inspired from my trip! I can even begin to tell you!
So here's a peek at what I have been working on this week...
I was going to try and upload these to the website today, but I ran out of daylight!
I literally started this post this morning from home, and flash forward to 5o'clock present time this afternoon, I am still resizing photos!
where did my day GO?!
funny how time just flies by huh? :)
so here's some more....
I have been working with some of that precious metal clay, and boy they aren't kidding when they call it Precious metal!
check price tag!
for a piece literally the size of a quarter
I will say you get lots of beads out of that one piece, but it is really difficult to work with, I just took one class, so I am still learning.
and I am acutely aware of the price, handling it like kryptonite!
in fact when I burned up a few of them because my flame was too hot, I about died, but you live, you learn.
SO I did manage to save a few, and I turned them into a charm bracelet charm,
tiny bird, that looks like my 6 year old made it!
hey! I'm learning! :) and like I said it is REALLY hard to work with!
tiny little cross my heart charm!
and a few more.
I will try and upload them soon!
I also have my little house paintings ready to go too
I have to tell you even though I am still really tired, I sure am creatively re-charged!
SO I am working as Fast as I can!
so stay tuned,
I can certainly say without a doubt I am Happy to be home
but I am also happy knowing that I get to revist Raleigh North carolina again,
I really love it there! SO much inspiration and eye candy, not to mention loads for the kids to do!
So if you are in the road trip frame of mind I highly recommend it, or if you can't plan a trip you can live viacriously though here, and pick up a little trinket of mine inspired by the place.
I made them Just for YOU! ;)
thanks for visiting!
