I love halloween, it's one of my favorite holidays,
love to decorate, have fun, get scared, eat candy.
but this year I have to tell ya, I wasn't feelin' it.
maybe it's because life feels so rushed lately.
or the fact that I didn;t want to spend any money.
I have no idea.
I was thrilled however that my kids didn't spend a nickle on any costumes.
they decided to wear what they had on hand and were creative.
THAT was a miracle. I was THRILLED!
after all it's what WE used to do when we were kids.
remember all of those great handmade costumes? they were the best.
Now because we live in the modern age where most kids aren't into all of that old school stuff, we did have to go to one of those halloween stores and look around at all of the over priced junk.
after I mentioned to Jackson that "wouldn't you rather have $30 to spend on Itunes, instead of a mask that you will literally wear for 2 hours?"
he thought about it and agreed.
phew! another bullet dodged,
I will say that all week long they were telling me how lame our house looked.
no webs, no scary stuff put out. this year stank!
rotten old mom.
So today after I dropped them off at school, the Halloween fever hit me, and I came home and started my magic.
I pulled out the lights, cleaned up some glass jars for eyeballs, starting carving the pumpkins, and spread out the webs.
I think they will be pleasantly surprised when they come home.
I even went as far as ripping out these old dead bushes on the side of my house (that needed to come out anyways)
and like a wild woman that I am, I literally ripped them out with my bare hands, and stuck them in the front of our entryway to make it look extra spooky!
all the while I am thinking
"those kids better appreciate all of the stuff I do for them, in case I have a heart attack from straining"
yes, I am nuts.
I am pretty happy with how it all turned out.
I will show you more photos from at night later on.
I think it will be fun.
we are ordering pizza, and hanging out in our yard around a bonfire.
we will trick or treat in the neighborhood too.
lots of fun after all!
Hope all of you have a great Halloween TOO!
I will have tons more to share soon, lots has been happening this week, it's all so freakin' cute too!
