As you all can see my posts are becoming more and more visual, I hope this doesn't bother you, but for me "pictures speak a thousand words" and i am a very visual person.
I can't follow recipes, I need to be SHOWN what to do, I can't follow directions, I need a VISUAL DIAGRAM to "get it", you get the picture....this is what works best for me. (plus I am addicted to taking pictures and documenting my life a the moment, so I will be bringing you all with me for the ride! ha hA!)
Well this start of the week has been a lazy one at best. My son has a week off from any sort of camp, and we have been sleeping in, not setting any sort of alarm at all, and totally relishing it all.
no yelling and screaming in the morning to get out the door, just an easy-peasy start of our days......gosh this could become a bit of a problem! :)
yesterday we went down to the shop to help unload our shipment that came in, yes, those cute plates are in, so if you'd like some...come on down, or shoot me an email, because yes, whatever you see on the site, or blog is usually available for sale....I am just too flaky to get it uploaded to my website.
We also got our beautiful paper line in.....wonderful wrapping papers that you could use for scrap booking or even lining a picture frame and adding VISUAL interest to a wall!
I saw this done in a restaurant downtown in Dexter last night at the Northpoint grill. we did not eat dinner there, but my little Fiona (check out her teeny-tiny puma tennis shoes, they are making me smile bigtime this week!)
needed a potty break before going to the Dairy Queen next door, and they were oh-so nice about letting us use their facilities, and that's where I saw this technique, of taking random frames and putting pieces of beautiful paper in them. they had a whole wall done like this and it was fantastic! yes, i will be copying them.
I love That little town of Dexter.
we used to live there years ago before we had kids, and before we were married. We had a little apartment on the top floor of an old victorian right downtown.
it was wonderful.
my kids wanted to see where we used to live so we took a walk down there last night after we ate our ice-cream scones
and hung out in the gazebo in the middle of town.
i love that place.
We rented our tiny flat for an amazing sum of $350 a month from the oldest woman on earth who still drove a car. her name was May Mast, and she was over 93 years old. She was an amazing folk art painter and had paintings plastered over ALL of her barns and outbuildings where she lived....pretty much any surface really. She was quite prolific.
She also used to have a wonderful landscape painting on the front of our little house, i was so sad to see it removed and a business sign replacing it.
one of the signs that life indeed moves on, and how quickly things change.
in fact that town has changed so much, it's totally going upscale, fancy restaurants moving in, coffee shops and art galleries.
When we were there I used to go next door to the grocery store and the cashiers would recognize me and call me "honey" i loved that.
we also used to go to this little pizza joint across the street from our house.
I miss those simple days.
Everything seems to be replaced by the hustle and bustle and craziness of life, so yes, I totally am enjoying this week and will savor every moment.
I spent yesterday working on my mosaic pot,
i will grout it in today yay!
I came to realize that the reason I haven't finished them is because I simply can't work in my basement at the shop, I need LIGHT and SUN, and to feel and see the world around me while I create. So needless to say, i will have these puppies wrapped up by the end of the week because they are right smack dab in the middle of my kitchen table in full sun.......
Right off my deck where I can see the wonderful things happening like these beauties......can you believe my first harvest?
Ohmigosh, I have a PEAPOD!
and sweet little green beans!
and a zucchini!
very exciting! (it's the simple things you know)
The deck is also a place where I can see things happening like my DOG swimming in the swimming pool, which always brings a smile to my face.
at least SOmething is using it. clearly the novelty has worn off for my children.
That Pearl is quite the character, and she does have her fan base.
which makes it lucky for her that she is so cute and loved otherwise I might kill her. just look at who is using my new pillows! UGH! :0
in fact the other day when we placed our rug order, we had to set up a new account with the company, so we faxed over our info, website, and storefront etc. etc.
the woman handling our account called me on the phone to tell us she had gone to my website and seen our store and loved it, but her favorite part was PEARL. our little shop dog. that was so sweet.
in fact she faxed over the order form to us 'Attention -Red Shoes -Catherine and PEARL.
I love that. It's THOSE kind of things that make this world seem a little bit smaller, more quaint, more down to earth and approachable. because in all of this hustle and bustle and fast-paced-ness it's just the kind of thing this girl needs!
Have a great day Y'all.
